Dog day

Actually it was a pleasant day in court. There is nothing as brilliant, really, as the express subway trains. When these things are cooking, you own the City. So I got from Midtown to the federal courthouse in Brooklyn this morning in no time flat — quite welcome after the nightmare of sitting in interminable Lincoln Tunnel bus lane traffic on the way into the City in the first place.
The new courthouse building at Cadman Plaza is positively brilliant. We were asked to check in at chambers prior to this conference and, the main lobby of each chamber has glass walls. And I was struck as I walked past this one by the extraordinary view across the East River out the window — which you can’t see because of the glare in this drawing (no cameras are allowed in court, but I draw real good).
But as I was sketching away imagine my surprise at seeing the full extent of court personnel in this particular judge’s sanctuary! Yes, in the bottom-right-hand corner — it’s a dog. First judicial dog I have ever encountered… with fur, anyway. He stood still while I sketched away. Good dog!

But see, on the Internet, no one knows you’re a dog.

Woof! Woof!
(That’s not very pretty for, “ain’t it the troof!”)
