I suspect Ms. Acree misinterpreted the cues from her fellow students. In my experience, you passed by most every other student without a &quot;shred of recognition,&quot; even if you were in the same class.

Contrary to the expectation that college would be a secularizing experience, many of my fellow students, Christians and Jews alike, came out of MIT more devout than when they went in. For several of my pledge classmates, college is where they first learned how to keep kosher. They came in as Reform or Conservative and left as Orthodox.</description>
