William Jefferson Clinton, former President of the United States
Oct 25, 2007 Americana, Politics and Poker
Instapundit links to an item that ran on Drudge earlier today, but I got all tied up trying to embed it here (couldn’t do it): A video of Bill Clinton at a speaking event, answering a question from a Truther who asks about 9/11 being an “inside job.” The former President, making Jimmy Carter look like the abominable puissant that he is, is having none of it, and just says — his jaw set, his teeth gritted, and with genuine rage:
An inside job?
How dare you?
How dare you?
End of discussion. And they carted the guy away.
It’s amazing that this manly, no-nonsense response is deserving of praise, but it is. I am deeply touched every time I watch this clip, and proud of his reaction. Notwithstanding the attack on Hillary Clinton coming from the far left, who knows whether more than a couple of deluded left-wingers will feel the cold water hitting their faces when they view this clip.

Wow…look at Bubba, stepping all over free speech when someone is just trying to speak “truth to power” and “just ask questions”. Oh…wait…this is a Clinton…it’s all good.

Bill Maher had those same crazies in his audience the other night on HBO. His response? It has to be seen to be appreciated. (Warning: Language NSFW).

Ara, these crazies seem to know no party line either…the only time you’ll see Paulites having tea with the Kucinichers.

Interesting thing about Paul and Kucinich — each party needs guys like that in order to adapt. They’re like human curb feelers.
Oh wait. No one remembers curb feelers anymore…but you probably catch my drift, right?

Curb feelers.

I remember curb feelers! I didn’t know they were called that, though.

Being born in 1981, all I can do is smile and nod…my good old days is when Microsoft Windows was named 3.x as opposed to the year it was released.

Clinton’s own preoccupation with things other than his job prevented a proper response to Al Qaeda during his two terms.

Really.
This is a familiar refrain, most recently coming from Giuliani’s campaign. What Giuliani covers-up is that the people who bombed the WTC the first time (you know, when Giuliani was mayor) were caught, prosecuted and slammed in jail for their criminal acts. By the Clinton administration.
And the USS Cole? If you’re so sure it was cut and dried who bombed the ship, then why didn’t Bush drop the hammer on them?
And, oh by the way, where is Osama bin Laden these days? Free as a bird, that’s where.
And as for Giuliani, after the 93 bombings, he did squat to protect NYC from another attack. He kept the wrong radios (after cutting a sweetheart deal with Motorola), put the EOC in the WTC (an example of mindlessness that will live in infamy) and on and on and on.

Correction: Giuliani became mayor 10 months after the 93 bombing.

From an interview Keith Olbermann did with Wayne Barrett, author of Grand Illusion:
Bottom line: Giuliani is going to be a very, very tough opponent if he gets the nomination because, well, “This is the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.”
You know it’s coming.

Regarding “Ara Rubyan Says: October 29th, 2007 at 8:42 am”
I was not implying anything about Giuliani in this connection.
All the same, the responsibility was primarily in Washington, and any city not doing its proper bit for security against terrorism should have received marching orders from Washington.

Like in New Orleans, right?
October 29th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
Oh, let’s see. Those thousands of buses that Ray Nagin failed to use for evacuation—that must be someone else’s fault; how could we blame him? NYC was in a far better state of order, before, during, and after its disaster, because a Republican mayor had dared to crack down on crime. In Nagin’s case, we even saw some looting by police.
October 29th, 2007 at 6:37 pm
Whoa there Bob…don’t you know the Federal government is to blame for everything? It’s Bush’s fault because he didn’t tell them how to do their jobs…I mean, getting Buses to evacuees…how was Nagin supposed to come up with that on his own?

Then there’s the levees. The way some people talk, you’d think the government should take care of those things forever. I say sell them back to the local government and let them be responsible for them.
October 30th, 2007 at 6:58 am
I did not get the impression that there was one agency at one level of government responsible for coordination and execution of funding, engineering, construction, maintenance, and repair of the levees. There’s blame there at multiple levels of government. The primary blame may be with the brilliant minds who originally zoned below-sea-level areas for residential and commercial building construction.

It’s called the US Army Corps of Engineers. Check it out.

And as far as not allowing construction in dangerous areas, we might as well evacuate most of Florida.
October 30th, 2007 at 2:13 pm
Sorry, Ara, the Corps of Engineers has only part of the mission I outlined.
