When I hear a report like this, it reminds me of stories I’ve read about some US Special Forces operations in Vietnam.

Apparently, not every hidden enemy weapons cache was immediately destroyed when discovered. Every so often, the ammo was left in place. With some slight modifications.

A few exploding AK 47 rounds might be slipped into some clips. Hand grenades and mortar rounds might have their time delay fuses replaced with instant fuses.

I’ve also read that such modified ammo was occasionally permitted to be “smuggled” into the war zone.

The theory was that the instant enemy kills were certainly good, but the longer term psychological effects were even better. Once word got around of the “defects”, ammunition from certain sources developed a very bad reputation. And the fear that the next mortar round dropped down a tube might instantly blow up in your face surely caused some serious stress in the enemy.

I suspect such acts might be considered a “war crime” under certain circumstances. But I don’t feel a bit guilty to admit that I hope things like that are going on today.

Ah, you’re saying maybe this cat was helped along on his journey to his 72 virgins?

    I’d like to think it’s a possibility.

    Hmmm.

On top of war crimes, next thing you know they’ll be charging our guys with accessory to polygamy…..
