It’s a New York thing

Glenn links to Michelle, who reports that the Senate has killed a legislative provision granting immunity from lawsuits against members of the public for reporting suspicious behavior that may lead to a terrorist attack — the “John Doe” amendment.

It’s not an obvious policy one way or the other. The possibility for abuse is clear.

But for some reason, according to the reports linked to above the people behind this legislative shift have chosen to obscure their identities. Why?

By the way, if you’re not from around here, here’s the original:

It’s kind of ubiquitous in these parts.

Sounds like they’re trying to take “Don’t Snitch” nationwide.

I did think of going with the ‘overlords’ choice, but decided to go with the ‘John Banner’ tag instead.

A very vague(to some) reference to Sgt Schultz.

“I know nothing, I see nothing…” something the character would find accomodating about the dems policy of National defense.

  8. John Banner Says:

I better give a link to some of his choice quotes:

“I know nothing, I see nothing, and I say nothing!”

“On some occasions I look the other way because in war I do not like to take sides…”

“Oh boy. No matter what we do, we can never win a war.”

    http://www.angelfire.com/pa/hoganshero/schultz.html

I was hoping to see Murtha get the tag-’schultzie’-but he is on his way out, and there are bigger fish*.

Quote three is right up his alley…but he knows his time is numbered. Even if he can hold a majority thru 08, he is up for reelection on 2010(?). Nevada is still a red state, and he is haemmorhaging badly. His land deals locally, and his presiding over the most loathed congress of all time does not bode well.

If he were tagged with the Schultzie label, and it stuck, he’d be gone from his leadership position before the 08 election.

*-this ‘fish’ reference should not be used in reference to Pelosi. He blinking and appearance would make my choice of words appear insulting.

The Democrats want you to keep silent and not talk

Michelle Malkin’s got some great looking photoshops showing what the Democrats would really like of America’s citizens, provided by Gates of Vienna, Are We Lumberjacks, and a few others.

I could have linked to a million stories on this, but Publishers Weekly seems appropriate: Finding that author J.D.
