59th Street Bridge with yacht

59th Street Bridge with yacht
It was perfect weather in Manhattan and during the late afternoon I had to slip out and decompress along the East River around 51st Street, where there’s a pedestrian bridge that goes over a local “dog park” and over the FDR Drive to a set of benches on the water.

The brackish water does me a lot of good, and whiile it’s not exactly quiet, the white noise generated by the passing cars on the FDR — punctuated by booming renditions of urban Top 40 — will, if you are a city mouse, substitute quite nicely for silence.

All and all a bracing diversion just a few blocks from the office.
